Boundaries Training

Rostered Ministers and Synodically Authorized Ministers are required to participate in training on the importance of boundaries in professional ministry. Copies of certificate of completion should be provided to the synod and a copy should also be maintained in your congregation/ministry’s personnel files.

Ministers can also attend any boundaries training offered through any ELCA synod. Ministers should email their certificate of completion to diane.stultz@nwos-elca.org.

There are several different training options:

The Southern Ohio Synod will hold a Boundaries Training session on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 9 AM – 12 PM at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church (Hilliard).

They will be offering this in a hybrid format, meeting in-person & via Zoom. The training is free, but registration is required.

Keeping Our Sacred Trust – This self-paced online course is offered through the Lewis Center for Church Leadership and has two parts: Understanding Clergy Sexual Ethics and Maintaining Boundaries in a Digital Age.

Ministers should complete both parts and send a copy of their certificate of completion to diane.stultz@nwos-elca.org

Ministers can also attend other trainings offered through ecumenical judicatories. Look for trainings led by facilitators trained by and utilizing material from Faith Trust Institute.

Reminder: All Rostered Ministers, including Retired Rostered Ministers, must complete Boundaries Training every 3 years.

Please check with synod staff prior to registering for non-ELCA boundaries trainings (jacob.henry@nwos-elca.org)
