Bishop Daniel Beaudoin
Bishop of the Northwestern Ohio Synod
Bishop Daniel serves as the pastor for our synod. He leads, in collaboration with the Synod Council and Assembly, the implementation of the synod’s mission and vision. He oversees the work of the synod staff and oversees the Roster of Ministers including the ordination, installation, appointment, and discipline as necessary.

Sherry Krieger
Assistant to the Bishop for Strengthening Parishes & Parish Development
Sherry provides oversight for congregational relations with a focus on Ministry of Presence and Preventative Health. She is providing leadership for the Call Process in tandem with the Call Facilitators and Interim Pastors; is responsible for congregational care in matters of transition and conflict, providing resourcing, consultation and leadership development; and is assisting the Bishop in staff and synodical development.

Sarah Schaaf
Assistant to the Bishop for Emerging Church and Community Engagement
Pastor Sarah works with congregations and ministers to intentionally engage with their communities and leads mission and visioning workshops for congregations and leaders. She also works with Churchwide (national ELCA) on grant opportunities. Pastor Sarah also coordinates the synod’s diakonia program of lay theological education, in addition to preaching and teaching throughout NWOS congregations.

Cassie Mugler
Director of Administraton
As the Director of Administration, Cassie will provide administrative support for Bishop Daniel as well as support in the areas of database and roster administration, synod events management, support to the synod council and conference deans, and help planning and managing synod assembly.

Cheryl Sondergeld
Director of Leadership Development
Cheryl provides leadership for our programming, events, and coordination of volunteers, in addition to supporting the Call Process for congregations in transition. She also oversees and facilitates our Candidacy process, working closely with Bishop Daniel, Sherry Krieger and the Synod Candidacy Team to provide guidance to individuals from discernment to ordination.

Calla Gilson Burns
Director of Community & Global Engagement
Calla coordinates discipleship initiatives for our synod and supports the work of parishes to care for their neighbors. In addition, Calla coordinates some grant opportunities including grants for campus ministries and Imagining Renewal microgrants.

Jillian Russell
Communication and Adminstrative Coordinator
Jillian supports synod staff in providing direction and oversight of all NWOS communication. She also assists Pastor Sarah and Deacon Sherry administratively, coordinating and implementing projects in collaboration with them.
