I like the Book of Psalms, and early on in my ministry, I worked to commit a number of psalms to memory. Psalm 131 has long served as a psalm of peace and rest for me. When things become hectic and anxious, I find repeating this psalm calms and quiets my soul.

What Scripture passages have you memorized that bring you peace and solace, rest and hope, calm and quiet?

O Lord, my heart is not lifted up,
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvelous for me.
But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
my soul is like the weaned child that is with me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord
from this time on and forevermore

(Psalm 131)
