Dear Friends in Christ,

“I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him,” (Ephesians 1:17)

Back in 2014, the Pew Research Center conducted a Religious Landscape Survey. Although the data is already 3 years old, I am intrigued by certain findings that are reported about the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Specifically, in the area of spiritual practices:

  • Attendance at Worship Services
  • Frequency of Prayer
  • Participation in Prayer, Scripture Study, or Christian Education
  • Frequency of Scripture Reading

As you look through the ELCA data from the Religious Landscape Survey (see the link below), do you believe that the Pew Research Center results capture the spiritual temperature of your parish?  How might we grow in our spiritual formation? What beliefs and practices do you find helpful in your formation?
