We are excited to announce that the Northwestern Ohio Synod administrative hub will be relocating to 1701 Tiffin Ave Findlay OH 45840! We will be sharing space with the congregation of St John’s Lutheran Church, and a satellite office of Lutheran Social Services.
Like many other organizations, Covid-19, staffing changes, and cultural shifts have reshaped how we work and interact with each other as staff and with our parishes. After 30 years in the Bright Road office, we realize that it is time for a change. We are eager to be in a space that more authentically reflects who we are, and hope that this move affirms our commitment to be better stewards of our resources. This move is our way of answering God’s call to move “out of the building and into the community”.
For years we have been learning and teaching about contextual intelligence and exploring what a church would look like if we moved out of the four walls. As a synod staff we have been making small steps, but now we’re ready for a giant leap towards living into our values, embodying our mission statement, and practicing what we preach.
So, what does this mean? Synod staff will continue employing a hybrid work schedule. When we’re in the office, this change allows us to work more collaboratively, and when we’re not in the office this change allows us to discover all the incredible places and communities northwestern Ohio has to offer! You may notice more meetings taking place in coffee shops, libraries, parks, or community centers. Please be assured that although our daily work may take place in more public places, any sensitive and confidential conversations will be handled with a high level of care and sensitivity.
Loving our parishes means being in our parishes, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you wherever you are, on the way.
Q: How can I contact synod staff?
Although we’ve moved, our phone number hasn’t changed. When you call us at 419-423-3664, you can select the member of staff you wish to speak with and the system will route you directly to them. If the member of staff is available, they will be able to answer your call (instead of going directly to voicemail as was the previous system). You can still contact synod staff via existing email address.
Q: Where can I mail checks, forms, etc?
Congregational Remittance can still be sent to our PO Box 981. All other regular correspondence can be mailed to our new address:
Northwestern Ohio Synod
1701 Tiffin Ave
Findlay OH 45840
Q: Will you have office hours?
Our new administrative hub does not currently have regular “office hours” when staff will be present.
After a few months of settling into our new rhythm of working, we hope to establish and communicate limited “office hours”.
